Grand Theft Auto Pop Culture

On the back of the Grand Theft Auto Game its preview reads,
Liberty City, USA.
The Worst Place in America.
You’ve been betrayed and left for dead. Now you’re taking revenge, unless the city gets you first. Mob bosses need a favor, crooked cops need help and street gangs want you dead. You’ll have to rob, steal and kill just to stay out of serious trouble.
Anything Can Happen Out There.
This intro to the game puts whoever is playing the game into the position of being a hit man like person for mob bosses. Kids are playing this game and that is not the kind of position that they should be in.
I am going to use it for an example of the situation that children are allowed to be in by there parents, and why they should not be allowed to be in those situation.

In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas there is a cheat that can be downloaded to unlock the “hot coffee” modification. Hot coffee allows the “players who downloaded a special program view explicit oral sex.” The code that allow player to view “hot coffee” was not found until a year after Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released. This code offended many people and the brought charges against Grand Theft Auto / Take Two. The people who were offended could go to the stores and exchange it for a “fellatio-free version.” The “hot coffee” code that was left in the game unfinished cost Take Two tens of millions of dollars. $2.75 of that was used to pay plaintiffs. “Take Two CEO Ben Federer admitted that his company is essentially buying off plaintiffs to make the lawsuit disappear. ‘We believe it is in the best interest of the company to avoid protected and costly litigation to prove our case and to finally put this matter behind us,’ he said.”
I am going to use this information as an example of the bad things that are in the game that kids should not be exposed to.

“Texting, chatting, updating his calendar. No, Niko hasn’t turned into a Japanese schoolgirl; he’s just addicted to his phone. Game play wise, he can initiate missions by calling key contacts. Or, when he needs a piece, he simply calls “Little Jacob” and sets up a direct-from-the-trunk alleyway shopping experience.”
I am going to use this to show that they are making the game more realistic. More real-life actions, and being able to call people and find illegal, non-listed guns. More bad things for kids to be exposed to.
